Cultivation I is the 2nd in line of the Cultivation course after that of General Cultivation. It aims to provide students with the specialized knowledge required to understand the techniques of cultivation of the most important fruiting vegetables in field conditions and in a controlled environment. Also, to support the high demands of commercial cabbage crops in Greek agriculture. More specifically, this course aims to impart the knowledge and skills required for the specific requirements and cultural techniques, the means, selection of appropriate genetic material and propagation, selection of suitable substrates and rootstocks for sowing, the physiology of plant growth, the effects of environmental factors on the growth, production and quality of fruit vegetables, sorting, packaging and storage, varieties and hybrids, and nutritional and medicinal properties.
